Registration

  • This registration is for a FIRST TIME applicant who is NOT employed by an AACP Member Company. This fee includes tuition of $2,700 plus a nonrefundable $100 application fee.
  • This registration is for a FIRST TIME applicant who is employed by an AACP Member Company. This fee includes tuition of $1,700 plus a nonrefundable $100 application fee.
  • This registration can only be used by a RETURNING Apprentice who is employed by a Member Company.

2019-2020 Academic Year Registration

The HVAC industry offers you an occupation which offers a competitive income and the ability to master a skill in which you can take pride. With skilled workers in great demand, the HVAC Industry offers you a career with year-round work and the opportunity for promotion.

Our four-year apprenticeship program was developed after carefully assessing the needs of the HVAC industry. Upon successful completion of this program, each apprentice will receive:

  • A career path
  • Pride in themselves
  • Credits toward an Associate Degree from Montgomery College
  • The opportunity to receive a Maryland Journeyperson's License without having to sit for the exam

QUALIFICATIONS TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE


These are the minimum qualifications for an apprentice.

  1. Applicant must be at least 16 years of age.
  2. Applicant should be a high school graduate, but a 9th grade or higher education will be considered.
  3. Must be physically fit to perform the work of the occupation.
  4. Must have adequate means of transportation to individual job sites.
  5. Must provide occupation tools as required by employer.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

The basic requirements to be in the apprenticeship program are:
  1. An individual can be unemployed to participate in the First Year, only.
  2. An individual must be employed by an AACP Member Company for each of the Second, Third and Fourth Year.
  3. An individual must have 144 hours of related instruction, per year, as offered by AACP Instructors.
  4. Maintain a state-issued Apprentice License during the program.


SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM

The successful completion of the apprenticeship program requires:
  1. An individual must attend no less than 85% of classroom instruction, per class.
  2. An individual must pass each class with a minimum of 70% or C-.
  3. An individual must attain 8,000 hours of occupational-related work experience over four years [On-The-Job-Training Hours].

If an apprentice passes every class and attains the required On-The-Job-Training hours, AACP will submit the appropriate paperwork for the apprentice to receive a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship from the State of Maryland.

LOCATION

Classes for the Apprenticeship Program are held in the Gudelsky Institute on the Rockville Campus of Montgomery College.


REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR FIRST TIME APPLICANT

A First-Time Applicant must send a request to AACP to create an online profile. This request can be sent by email using the link below. Send us this information: First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Home Phone, E-Mail Address and Name of Employer.

Once we create the online profile, you will be sent a temporary password by email. This password will allow you to log in and update your online profile, change your password, and register for the program.

First Time Applicants: Send your Information via E-Mail


To complete the registration process, a First-Time Applicant must e-mail copies of the following documents to Info@AACPnet.org:
  1. State-issued driver's license.
  2. High school diploma, GED Certificate or official transcript of the last grade completed [9th Grade or above].
  3. Military Discharge papers, if previously served in the United States military.
  4. State-issued Apprentice License.

REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR A RETURNING APPRENTICE

Log into your online profile using your email address as the username. If you forgot your password, click on Forgot Password and the system will assign and send you a temporary one. Once you receive the temporary password, log into your profile and update your password.

TUITION


Tuition includes academic coursework and textbooks:

  • First-Time Applicant Tuition with Member Company - $1,800
  • First-Time Applicant Tuition with NonMember Company - $2,800
  • Returning Applicant Tuition - $1,700

The First-Time Applicant Tuition includes a $100 non-refundable application fee.

A Second, Third and Fourth Year apprentice must be employed with an AACP Member Company.


PAYMENT INFORMATION


Unless other arrangements are approved in advance and in writing, tuition must be paid in full on or before July 19, 2019.

The Association of Air Conditioning Professionals, AACP, assumes no liability whatsoever with respect to any financial arrangement between the Apprentice and the Employer.
