Skip Test for a First Year Apprentice
An individual registered for the First Year apprenticeship program has the opportunity to earn credit hours for past work experience and advance to the Second Year.
To assess the previous work experience, a registered apprentice will be given an exam in each of five [5] instructional areas. Specifically:
Passing Requirements
In order for a First Year apprentice to advance to the Second Year, three [3] of the five [5] exams must be passed with a minimum grade of 80%. The exams which must be passed are: Electricity, Basic Heating and Basic Refrigeration. ALL THREE EXAMS must be passed to advance to the Second Year.
If an apprentice passes the three required exams but fails either or both the Introduction to Trade and/or Math exam, the apprentice will need to take these First Year classes in addition to Second Year classes.
NOTE: Calculators are permitted. Phone calculators are not allowed.
Registration Fee
There is a nonrefundable registration fee of $150 to take the five [5] exams.
